Who we are
Kuickr is operated by Kuickr Technologies Inc., a company incorporated in Canada with its head office in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In this policy, Kuickr, we, us and our mean Kuickr Technologies Inc.
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the Kuickr app or website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our apps, our website, and our customer support channels.
We are accountable for the personal information in our custody. Our Privacy Officer can be reached at privacy@kuickr.ca.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run a delivery service.
Information you give us
- Account details — your name, phone number, email address, and password.
- Delivery addresses — the addresses you save, plus any buzzer codes or drop-off instructions you add to them.
- Order contents — what you ordered, when, from which store, and any notes or substitution preferences you attached.
- Payment details — handled by our payment processor. We receive a token, the card brand, and the last four digits. We never see or store your full card number.
- Support messages — what you tell us when you contact us, including photos you send about a problem with an order.
Information we collect automatically
- Location — see Location data below.
- Device and app data — device model, operating system version, app version, language, and a device identifier we use to keep you signed in.
- Usage data — screens opened, features used, and errors encountered, so we can find and fix problems.
- Cookies and similar technologies on our website — see Cookies below.
We do not collect information about your race, religion, health, political views, or sexual orientation, and we ask that you do not put such information into order notes or support messages.
How we use it
We use your personal information to:
- create and maintain your account and keep you signed in;
- take, fill, and deliver your orders, including passing a courier what they need in order to find you;
- take payment, issue refunds, and prevent payment fraud;
- send you order updates by push notification, SMS, or email — these are service messages and are part of using Kuickr;
- answer your questions and resolve problems with an order;
- keep the service safe, including detecting fraudulent accounts, promotion abuse, and misuse of the app;
- understand which parts of the service work and which do not, using aggregated and de-identified data wherever that is enough;
- send you marketing about Kuickr, where you have opted in and subject to your right to unsubscribe at any time; and
- meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
Consent and your choices
Under Canadian privacy law we rely on your consent to collect, use, and disclose your personal information, except where the law permits or requires us to act without it — for example to investigate a breach of an agreement, to detect fraud, or to comply with a court order.
Creating an account and placing an order is your consent to the uses in How we use it that are necessary to provide the service. Anything beyond that — marketing email, analytics cookies, precise location — is opt-in, and you can withdraw it at any time without losing access to Kuickr.
You can withdraw consent by changing the relevant setting in the app, using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or writing to privacy@kuickr.ca. Withdrawing consent that is necessary to fill an order means we cannot fill that order.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only as described here.
- Couriers and shoppers. The person bringing your order sees your first name, delivery address, drop-off instructions, and a masked phone number that stops working shortly after delivery. They do not see your payment details or your order history.
- Stores and suppliers. Partner stores receive the contents of your order so it can be picked. They receive your first name, not your address.
- Payment processors. They handle your card details directly, under their own privacy policies.
- Service providers. Companies that host our systems, send our notifications, run our maps and routing, and help us with customer support. They act on our instructions, only for the purposes we set, and under contract.
- Legal and safety. Where we are required by law, or where it is necessary to investigate fraud, protect our rights, or protect the safety of a person.
- A business transfer. If Kuickr is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may transfer as part of it. We will tell you if that happens and your information becomes subject to a different policy.
Cookies
This section is our cookie policy. It covers the Kuickr website. The apps do not use cookies, though they do use similar device storage to keep you signed in.
A cookie is a small file a site stores on your device. We group ours into two kinds.
Strictly necessary
These make the site work: they hold your session, keep your cart intact, and record the cookie choice you made so we do not ask again. They cannot be switched off, and they are not used to track you across other sites.
Analytics — off until you accept
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people use and where the site is slow. Nothing loads until you accept. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no analytics script is loaded and no analytics cookie is set. We do not use these cookies to build an advertising profile of you.
What we do not use
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking widgets on this site.
Changing your mind
Clearing your browser cookies for this site removes your stored choice and the banner will ask again. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking the strictly necessary ones will break parts of the site.
Location data
Delivery is a location service, so we ask for your location — but only at the level we need.
- While you are using the app. We use your device location to suggest your delivery address, confirm you are inside a delivery zone, and show your order approaching. You can decline and type your address in by hand instead.
- In the background. We do not collect customer location in the background.
- Courier location. During an active delivery we show you the courier moving toward you. We do not show couriers your live location — only the delivery address.
You can turn location access off at any time in your device settings.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it, or as long as the law requires.
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Account information | While your account is open, and for a short period after you close it in case you come back or a dispute arises |
| Order and payment records | Seven years, which is what Canadian tax and accounting rules require of us |
| Delivery location trails | A short window measured in days, kept to resolve disputes about a delivery, then deleted |
| Support conversations | Two years |
| Fraud and safety records | As long as needed to keep the account or device involved from coming back |
When a retention period ends we delete the information, or de-identify it so it can no longer be linked to you.
How we protect it
We encrypt personal information in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to staff who need it for their job, is logged, and requires multi-factor authentication. Payment card numbers never reach our servers.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you, and be told how it has been used and who it has been disclosed to;
- Correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- Withdraw consent to anything that is not necessary to provide the service;
- Delete your account and the information tied to it, except records we are required to keep;
- Take your data with you in a portable, machine-readable format; and
- Complain if you are unhappy with how we handled a request.
Write to privacy@kuickr.ca. We will confirm your identity and respond within 30 days, or tell you why we need longer. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to your provincial privacy regulator.
Where we store it
We store personal information in Canada. Some of our service providers process it in the United States or elsewhere, which means it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities of that country. We use those providers under contracts that require a level of protection comparable to the one we give it here.
Children
Kuickr is not for children. You must be the age of majority in your province or territory to hold an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and if we learn that we have, we delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we publish a new version with a new effective date, and the previous version stays available at its own permanent link. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again.
